urban renewal old city center - park pavilion - THE PHAIDON ATLAS of contemporary world architecture 2004 UK

urban renewal old city center

In the heart of the park

Inside the building, the main functions, including a dinning hall, coffee shop and multipurpose performance space, are located in 63-metre-long (207 feet) space. There is room for 2,500 people inside, and more can be accommodated on the covered terrace that extends the restaurant and links it to the gardens. The building’s elongated form is intended to act as a screen to the street on one side. On the other, it opens up towards the park with a trellis-covered glass wall that runs the full length of the building, and which in time will be fully covered in greenery.
